Reflection on Social Media Case 6: Basketball Cop

I loved reading about this case, it was such a refreshing story compared to so much of the negativity that
we see so much of in our society. While this was such an uplifting sweet story the lessons, it teaches
relates so wonderfully to the things we’ve been learning about in class. The first part of the story is so
sweet without social media however that would be the story. The cop would have built a good
relationship with those boys and taken steps with those specific boys to lessen the fear of cops in his
community. However, that isn’t the whole story, because social media took a hold of this story and
shared it Shaquille O'Neal got ahold of the story and took the sweet story to a whole new level. This
story displays just how much of an impact social media can have. It creates the opportunity for
information to be shared with people all over the world. I think it’s so easy for us to get caught up in the
negativity of social media but stories like this remind me that social media has so much power for good
in the world. I have seen so many stories over the years of people doing amazing good things that I
never would have known about without social media. Such as this one.  I’ve had so many different
opportunities to serve other people because of social media. I’ll have friends post different stories
about people struggling and going through unimaginable trials. It’s so incredible to see how
communities are able rally around people in those tough situations because of the network social media
creates. This shares stories of different teens using social media to make a difference in the world.  It
really is so easy to get distracted with all the bad parts of social media however social media really can
have such a wonderful impact on our lives if we look for and share all the good in our lives!

    I also like this story because of the positive aspect and think that these are the kind of stories that should be pursued.

    I agree with you, it was so nice to see something positive, especially when we see so much negative through social medias. There have been tons of good things I would have never known about if I had not seen it through social media.

I found this case incredibly interesting, it displayed just how much power social media possesses. McDonalds thought they had this brilliant idea and if it had gone the way they had intended I’m sure it would have been great. What this case displays however is just how quickly things can spiral out of control when the internet gets ahold of them. Reflection on Social Media Case 12: United Breaks Guitars

Customer service should always be a businesses main focus! United definitely learned this the hard way! It's sad to think of how much money they could have saved and all the bad press that could have been avoided if they had simply done their job the right way the first time! Before the days of social media incidents like this probably wouldn't of had nearly as massive of an effect. Social media allows information to be shared instantly. I'm always surprised and frankly a little annoyed with how many negative complaints I see on social media, but they have an impact on the way I view companies. I'm seen people complain about customer service at different clothing boutiques or restaurants and it really does diminish my outlook on those companies.               Social media has changed how we look at communication is many different ways. In obvious ways it has enabled people to communicate with individuals they never would have otherwise, and stay in touch with people from all around the world.
