Reflection on Social Media Case 9: Ponderize

I am a member of the LDS church, and this study came as a surprise to me. I remember listening to this talk during General Conference and I loved it. I remember seeing a much different reaction. My social media accounts were blowing up with people Ponderizing scriptures and sharing the scriptures on their accounts. I didn't even know a site had been made selling merchandise. I think it's sad that there was a negative side to the story. I can see why people would get upset by this. It comes back to what we've discussed in class about transparency. If the site had made it very clear why it was created and put the relationship between Devin and Ryan out in the open I think the result my have been very different. I one hundred percent do not believe Elder Durrant chose to give that talk as a marketing strategy or to make more. I saw the good that came from that talk. It helped so many people come closer to their heavenly Father and learn more from the scriptures, myself include

Reflection on Social Media Case 8: Pastor's 10% to God

This is a very interesting Case. I honestly don't know if I see one side as solely correct. I think Pastor bell was rude in making the comment and should be gracious in tipping. I am a firm believer in tipping however so I may be a little biased. However if the Restaurant had a privacy agreement than it one hundred percent makes sense that the employee was fired because they shouldn't have posted the picture. All around there isn't an easy answer as to right and wrong I think both players could have acted differently. As far as reputations go, the pastor shouldn't have expected the entire Applebee's staff get fired, she made the remark she should stand by her actions! If she didn't want something like that getting out she shouldn't have said it in the first place. This goes back to the Anthony Weiner post from last week. Own up to your actions. If the pastor had of said yeah I said that I was upset, It may not have become as big of a deal as it did. Due to h

Reflection on Social Media Case 7: Anthony Weiner's Post

Honesty is always the best policy! In Anthony Weiner's case being honest could have saved his career. Not only does social media have way more power than we give it credit for society is even more set on finding out the truth than it ever has been before. Since we now have the power we want to use it and discover what is truth and what is not. It blows my mind that individuals think they can get away with dishonesty. They never do, at some point it will all come out and the consequences are always worse. I remember as a kid the times I did something wrong and lied about it I always got in way more trouble than if I had just admitted it when I did something wrong. It's the same concept. This  article shares a lighthearted story of a girl who lied her way into a date with a boy she really liked, and couldn't quite get out of the lie. Obviously this is a much more lighthearted version of what lies can do to a person but the sentiment is all the same. If this young women had co
